The Mercedes-Benz EQG-Class is a new heavy-duty all-electric SUV from Mercedes-Benz. Expected to debut during the 2024 model year, the EQG-Class is the successor to the classic Mercedes-Benz G-Class SUV.
The Mercedes-Benz G-Class is a legendary line of off-road vehicles, dating back to 1979. The new EQG-Class is taking the concept of the G-Class, and moving it into the future by turning to electric power.
The Mercedes-Benz EQG-Class is expected to debut in late 2023 or early 2024. It will be one of the most heavily anticipated new luxury electric vehicles of the 2024 model year. The same as other rugged, luxurious off-road SUVs, the EQG-Class will offer unmatched efficiency for a vehicle of its stature. While information about the new EV is limited, here is what we know right now about the EQG-Class.
The EQG-Class was announced at a conference early in 2022, with limited details being provided since then. In its release, Mercedes-Benz promises to bring the iconic cross-country vehicle into the future. The EQG-Class aligns with the manufacturer’s overall mission to expand its production of high-quality luxury electric vehicles in the coming years.
As for technical information about the EQG-Class, not much is known yet. But some details have been released, and some speculation can tell us more about what to expect.
Mercedes-Benz EQG-Class Performance – One of the details we do know about the EQG-Class is that it will be powered by four electric motors. There will be one electric motor for each wheel. This feature will make the EQC-Class incredibly well-suited for off-road conditions. The four individual motors create better handling and stability, especially on rugged terrain.
Mercedes-Benz has also revealed that the EQG-Class will operate on a specially-designed independent front suspension for electric vehicles. This feature, again, should provide better stability for off-roading, uniquely suited for this rugged EV.
We will have to wait on technical specifications to say more about how well the EQC-Class will perform. However, we do know that the latest gas-powered G-class model delivers 416 horsepower. We can anticipate that the more advanced 2024 EQG-Class should outperform that figure once it hits the road.
Mercedes-Benz EQG-Class Charging – We do not yet have figures for the EQG-Class’s battery and charging capacity. We do know that it will be a fully-electric SUV, running on a lithium-ion battery. Based on its size, the EQG-Class should have a range slightly below that of the Mercedes-Benz EQB (250 miles). Its range is also slightly below the Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV (305 miles).
Mercedes-Benz EQG-Class Design & Technology – One piece of information we know for sure about the Mercedes-Benz EQG-Class is what it will look like. The rugged box frame with large wheels, and the vintage Mercedes-Benz insignia stamped on the front grille make a strong first impression. The EQG-Class remains true to its G-Class roots, with a few modern flourishes. Promotional images show a silver model with black trim around the windows and roof. We can expect more colors to be available for purchase.
As for the interior and available technology in the EQG-Class, we can only speculate for now. However, based on the pre-existing Mercedes-Benz electric models, the EQG-Class should have an elaborate, high-tech cabin with all the tech you could want.
With the Mercedes-Benz EQG-Class expected to be ready for the 2024 model year, more information should be available soon. Stay tuned to raycatena.com for more news and updates about the EQG-Class.
