Benefits of Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles

Buying a brand-new vehicle is a dream for many people, but it can also come with an expensive price tag and potentially high monthly payments. On the other hand, some may worry about the longevity and durability of a pre-owned vehicle, which is understandable.

The bright side is that there is a way to get an incredible and mechanically sound used vehicle, which would be a certified pre-owned option.

A certified pre-owned vehicle is not just any old used vehicle. It’s a vehicle that has undergone a meticulous inspection by a qualified mechanic, ensuring that any issues are properly repaired. To earn the CPO certification, the vehicle must meet a stringent set of standards set by the manufacturer.

This rigorous process ensures that only the most reliable vehicles become CPOs. Additionally, CPO vehicles often come with the peace of mind of additional warranty protection through the manufacturer or dealership it is purchased from.

The Advantages of a Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle

Now that we’ve covered the general meaning of CPO, let’s take a look at some of the advantages of CPO vehicles.

Lower Price Than Brand New

Since CPO vehicles are not new, they will offer a lower price than brand-new vehicles. These vehicles have already experienced a portion of the depreciation process, which can leave customers with an excellent vehicle for a deal.

Remember, this also means they will be more costly than typical used vehicles, but it is worth it for the peace of mind of a quality vehicle.

Gently Used

Manufacturers will only offer CPO certification for vehicles with lower mileage and recent model years. For instance, Mercedes-Benz’s CPO program will only consider vehicles under six years old and less than 75,000 miles. In many cases, CPO vehicles won’t even be close to these limits. Many CPO vehicles will be lease returns that are only a few years old.

No Major Accidents

Most manufacturers will not accept vehicles into their CPO program if they have had significant body or frame damage. Even better, several programs require the vehicle to have a CARFAX report to be accepted as a CPO. This means buyers can have confidence nothing is being hidden about the vehicle.

Inspection and Warranty

As mentioned above, CPO vehicles undergo a strict inspection process to achieve certification. For example, Mercedes-Benz requires a 165+ point inspection covering the exterior, finishes, flooring, undercarriage, and more.

CPO vehicles are then road-tested to ensure everything is running smoothly. Additional warranty protection from the manufacturer or dealer helps to cover anything that could potentially go wrong soon after purchase.
