When Was MBUX Introduced?
MBUX was first introduced in 2018, with that year’s A-class lineup of vehicles. Since then, Mercedes has expanded on the available MBUX features, as well as the models that have access to them.
Which Vehicles Have Access to MBUX Features?
MBUX features are available on all modern Mercedes-Benz, Mercedes-Benz electric vehicles, and AMG vehicles manufactured after 2018. This includes both gas engines and fully-electric Mercedes-Benz models, like the EQB and EQS.
What is Included in MBUX?
Multimedia Touchscreen
The MBUX feature that most drivers will notice is the large, high-resolution multimedia touchscreen display. These touch screens provide access to functions like music and audio control, navigation, hands-free calling, and more.
The MBUX Hyperscreen is an optional feature available on many models as well. The Hyperscreen is a 56-inch multimedia touchscreen with three separate displays, spanning the entire front dashboard.
Digital Instrument Cluster & Head-up Display
The MBUX system is as much about convenience and innovation as it is about luxury. Features like the digital instrument cluster, head-up display, and touch-control steering wheel buttons are designed to provide greater access without sacrificing attention to the road.
Voice Control
Hands-free access is the best way to keep your focus where it should be. MBUX drivers can access their car’s built-in voice control features by simply saying “Hey Mercedes.” This simple access phrase enables drivers to set a new destination, control their music, answer phone calls, climate control, and more.
On-board Navigation with Optional Augmented Reality
You’ll never need to worry about getting lost on board an MBUX vehicle thanks to built-in navigation with real-time adjustments. Augmented reality navigation is also an available option for MBUX vehicles. This feature overlays real-world traffic images and updates along with your navigation in real-time, designed to make your drive even easier.
Wireless Connectivity
With MBUX, you can wirelessly connect any device to provide access to all of your favorite media. Available onboard features on MBUX vehicles include Bluetooth connectivity, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.
