Choosing the right luxury electric vehicle depends on your personal needs and your budget. One factor that is crucial for many drivers is cargo space. For family vehicles in particular, choosing a car with ample cargo room makes a huge difference.
So, which LEV models have the most cargo space? To answer this question, we will focus on the total available cargo volume in each model. This means the maximum space available with rear-row seats folded down. However, it is also practical to note the different levels of cargo space available in each model. So while the primary focus here is overall cargo room, we will also be noting different configurations for cargo volume.
Top 5 Most Spacious LEV Models
#5: Jaguar I-PACE
First up is the Jaguar I-PACE. The fully electric SUV from Jaguar comfortably seats 5, and also provides plenty of room for storage. When maxed out with the rear seats folded down, the I-PACE delivers 53.6 cubic feet of cargo space. However, the rear cargo area has a capacity of 25.3 cubic feet with the second row of seats in use.
#4: Audi e-tron Sportback
The Audi e-tron Sportback comes in just ahead of the I-PACE in terms of overall cargo volume. The e-tron Sportback is another fully-electric five-seat SUV. With the rear seats folded down, the e-tron provides 56.4 cubic feet of cargo space. With the rear seats in use, the e-tron Sportback also beats the I-PACE, providing 27 cubic feet of space.
#3: Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV
Third on our list of LEVs with the most cargo space is the new Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV. However, this is where things start to get complicated. In terms of overall dimensions, the EQS SUV provides 71 cubic feet of volume behind the first row of seats. That is a big step up from the Audi e-tron Sportback or the Jaguar I-PACE.
But the EQS SUV also has an optional third row of seats. When this third row is in use, the rear cargo area provides just 7 cubic feet of space. With the third seat folded down, that figure improves to 28 cubic feet. Remove the third row entirely, and the five-seater EQS SUV provides 31 cubic feet of cargo volume behind the second row. The amount of cargo room available on this LEV model depends on its configuration and passenger capacity.
#2 BMW iX
The BMW iX is a powerful and luxurious electric SUV that seats five passengers. It is also plenty spacious for those in need of storage capacity. The iX has 35.5 cubic feet of cargo volume behind its rear row of seats. With those seats folded down, the iX’s cargo volume maxes out at a whopping 77.9 cubic feet. This makes it the winner as far as fully-electric models are concerned. But it’s not the overall champion.
#1: Range Rover Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle
The only plug-in hybrid on our list is also the winner. The Range Rover Plug-in Hybrid model. There are multiple body options available for the Range Rover PHEV, so exact figures may vary. The standard wheelbase would take the top spot on this list on its own. This model provides 40.7 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats. With those seats folded down, the Range Rover PHEV’s cargo volume jumps to 83.5 cubic feet.
An extended-wheelbase model is also available, which seats up to seven passengers. In this model, the total potential cargo capacity is an astonishing 92.9 cubic feet. No cargo is too hefty for the Range Rover Plug-in Hybrid Electric vehicle.
