Where Can I Service My EV?
Servicing luxury electric vehicles requires some different parts and skills than servicing standard combustion engine vehicles. Because of this, not every service station can service your LEV. However, most EV manufacturers can provide service for your electric vehicle. Some regular service stations will also offer these services as well – but always check beforehand. At Ray Catena Auto Group, our service department is fully equipped to handle all of the LEV models we carry.
Luxury electric vehicles require less maintenance than combustion engine vehicles. This is largely because an electric motor has fewer components than a gas engine. However, because your electric vehicle operates on different components, finding a service station can be more of a challenge. But this does not mean that luxury electric vehicle service is impossible to find. There are still many places you can take your LEV for professional service. And as the EV market grows, so too does the number of electric vehicle service stations. Here are a few options you currently have to service your LEV.
Dealership/Manufacturer Electric Vehicle Service
Many manufacturers of luxury electric vehicles offer their own maintenance services for their vehicles. This can be the most proficient service option for many EV drivers. A mechanic who specializes in your car’s particular make and model will have better success fixing your problems. A manufacturer will always have the most knowledge and parts when it comes to servicing their own vehicles. Check with your dealership when purchasing a LEV to learn about your service options.
DIY Electric Vehicle Service
A lot of luxury electric vehicle service is relatively simple and easy to perform yourself. Checking and changing tires, replacing brake and windshield fluid, or replacing cabin air filters can all be easy at-home fixes. If you are uncomfortable performing any services, or if more major issues come up, you should seek a professional. But one of the many appeals of luxury electric vehicles is the infrequency of major service needs. As long as you maintain proper maintenance, your car should be in good shape for a long time.
Battery maintenance is one of the simplest ways to ensure the overall well-being of your luxury electric vehicle. Most batteries should last at least a decade, but they will lose some charge capacity over time. You can prolong the life of your battery by not putting any unnecessary stress on it. Avoid over- or under-charging your battery, and try to keep it in the sweet spot between 20-80% charged consistently. Battery health is crucial to the overall performance of your EV. As long as you keep a close eye on your battery, major repairs should be uncommon.
Traditional Electric Vehicle Service Center
As the market for electric vehicles grows, so too does the demand for luxury electric vehicle service. To meet this growing demand, many traditional service centers are learning to perform electric vehicle services as well. Jiffy Lube announced its entry into EV servicing late in 2021. Other national and local service technicians should be expected to follow in years to come.
For the time being, you may need to ask around if you’re looking for luxury electric vehicle service. But expect this to become less of a problem as more EVs hit the road.
