The 2018 R8 Spyder takes its supercar status to the next level. The powerhouse 532-hp V10 engine puts out 398 lb-ft of torque and adds balance through its mid-engine drivetrain design. To turn it up even more, an available 602-horsepower V10 plus engine boasts 413 lb-ft of torque, and reduces curb weight through the use of carbon fiber materials in its construction. Either way, the R8 Spyder shatters performance expectations.

Exterior

The look of the 2018 Audi R8 Spyder is unmistakable. A motorsport-inspired exterior captivates with full LED headlights, trapezoidal exhaust outlets and prominent wheel arches. And form follows function — the acoustic folding roof raises or lowers the roof in only 20 seconds at speeds of up to 31 mph, making it easier to drop the top while you’re in motion.

Black Optic Package

The available Black optic package features 20-inch 10-spoke-Y design forged wheels in high gloss Anthracite finish, gloss black exhaust tips, black windshield surround and titanium black exterior trim.

A Bold New Vision

Available on the R8 V10 and standard on V10 plus models, full LED headlights with Audi laser light technology help you see things clearer. When conditions permit, the Audi laser light modules activate, helping increase sight range. In addition, visual distinction is provided by a blue structure within the headlights and dynamic turn signals.

Gone in 20 Seconds

The Audi R8 Spyder features an acoustic folding roof that’s innovative and nearly imperceptible. The soft-top contains an electrohydraulic drive system to raise or lower the roof in only 20 seconds, at speeds of up to 31 mph. It was developed with lightweight construction principles and is only 97 lbs — which helps keep the center of gravity low.

Interior Design

The driver-centric cockpit with 18-way power sport seats and a multifunction flat-bottom sport steering wheel with shift paddles and satellite controls puts the driver at the helm of exhilaration.

quattro® all-wheel drive

The R8 Spyder features a unique application of quattro®, which emulates a rear-wheel drive vehicle, but with the ability to send up to 100% of available torque to the front axle, depending on the driving situation. This is made possible by advanced technologies, like the electronically controlled hydraulic multi-plate clutch, the addition of torque vectoring and quattro® integration within the Audi drive select system.

Choose Your Own Adventure

Audi drive select on the Audi R8 Spyder lets you choose between a range of variable handling settings through control of the quattro® all-wheel drive system, and other drivetrain and running gear components. Select your preference from up to four modes: Comfort, Auto, Dynamic and Individual.

Magnetic Appeal

On R8 V10 models, Audi magnetic ride adjusts the firmness of the dampers through an electronically charged magnetic fluid within the shock absorber. Dynamic, Comfort and Auto driving modes are also available via Audi drive select.

Audi Virtual Cockpit

The standard Audi virtual cockpit is a fully digital 12.3-inch instrument display that allows the driver to customize information such as audio and available navigation, offering Classic and Infotainment modes as well as Google Earth™. The R8 Spyder has a third option: Sport mode, which displays a large, central tachometer and performance statistics, such as a lap timer, horsepower and torque gauge, G-meter and more.
