With Tesla having one of the largest charging station networks, many new Macan EV owners may wonder whether they can use these stations. The good news is that by the end of 2024, yes! Tesla has begun opening their charging station network to other brands, including Porsche.

In 2024, Porsche introduced an all-electric variant of their immensely popular Macan SUV. Despite its compact size, this SUV is a powerhouse, delivering impressive performance and power in its smaller frame. For those who just purchased the Macan EV, there may be some questions about charging it. One of these is whether you can charge it with a Tesla Supercharger.
Fortunately, the world of EV charging is moving towards a level of standardization. Tesla recently announced that it will open its Supercharger stations to various other brands, such as Porsche and Ford. While immediate access is currently limited to Ford and Rivian vehicles, the plan is to grant access to all other brands by the end of 2024. This trend is a promising sign for the future of EV charging.
However, it’s important to note that Tesla uses a charging connection different from that of many vehicles, known as the North American Charging Standard (NCAS) port. The bright side is that many brands will adopt NCAS ports in their future vehicles starting in 2025. Until then, Macan drivers will need the Porsche adapter to charge at Tesla stations.
Charging the Macan EV
The Macan EV is compatible with level 1, 2, and 3 charging. Level 1 charging is the slowest method, offering only 2-5 miles of range per hour. A level 2 charging station can be installed in your home and can charge the Macan from 0 to 100% in around 11 hours. Level 3 charging, also known as DC fast charging, is the most efficient way to charge the Macan EV. These are often found at charging stations nationwide and can charge the Macan from 10-80% in just 21 minutes.
