The BMW XM Plug-In hybrid, a sensation since its debut in 2023, offers a spacious SUV with a strikingly aggressive front grille. The XM Plug-In is not just about looks but about power as well. With a robust twin-turbocharged V-8 and a hybrid system, it delivers an astounding 644 horsepower, promising an exhilarating drive.

Of course, many shoppers’ main question is, what is the XM Plug-In’s electric range? While the XM Plug-In doesn’t match some other luxury hybrid SUVs on the market, it offers a moderate-size battery that’s good for up to 30 miles of all-electric range. On the fuel side, the EPA estimates the XM Plug-In at 12 mpg in the city, 17 mpg on the highway, and 14 mpg combined.

Charging the BMW XM Plug-In

The hybrid system in the XM Plug-In features a 25.7 kWh battery that accepts charging of up to 7.4 kW. This allows the battery to charge from 0-100% in just over 3 hours. However, BMW also integrated a predictive heat management system that monitors and adjusts the charging to accommodate for temperature. This helps to reduce charging times.
