Traditionally, large vehicles have come at the expense of poor fuel efficiency. This has particularly hurt large families who need a high-capacity car but are then forced to spend more on fuel each year. But electric vehicles are a game changer when it comes to large or high-capacity vehicles. Hybrid electric vehicles significantly reduce gas dependence, while fully electric vehicles eliminate it.

This helps to make electric vehicles a great option for those in need of a reliable, affordable family vehicle. There are many 7-seat electric vehicles on the road in 2022 that combine roomy cabins with unbeatable efficiency. Here are some of the best 7-seater electric vehicles available today.

Best 7-Seat Electric Vehicles

Lexus RX L HybridLexus RX Hybrid Luxury Electric Vehicle with seven seats.

The Lexus RX Hybrid is a 7-seat hybrid luxury SUV. The Lexus RX has three comfortable rows of seating. The middle row provides 40.6 inches of legroom, while the rear third row has 22.6. The RX L Hybrid is a great family vehicle for those who want a more efficient vehicle without committing to a fully electric model. The Lexus RX L is a standard hybrid, not a plug-in, meaning there is never a need to charge the vehicle.

The Hybrid RX L gets up to 29 combined miles per gallon, compared to just 22 on its gas engine counterpart. In addition to its seating capacity, the RX L hybrid offers 23 cubic feet of cargo space when all three rows are in use, and 58.5 with the third-row seats folded down.

Mercedes-Benz EQBThe Mercedes-Benz EQB with seven seats.

Mercedes-Benz has been one of the biggest innovators in the luxury electric vehicle market in recent years. Their latest introduction to the U.S. market is the Mercedes-Benz EQB SUV. While this 7-seat electric vehicle has been available in Europe for a while, it is brand new in America for the fall of 2022. Mercedes has not released full specs for the American EQB model. However, the manufacturer has specified that the third row of seats can accommodate passengers up to 5’4” in height. That is more than enough space for most young children, while larger children can easily enjoy the second row of seats.

Unlike the Lexus RX, the Mercedes EQB is a fully electric SUV. It has an all-electric charge range of 243 miles, which is quite impressive for an EV of its size. And as this is a Mercedes-Benz vehicle, drivers can expect a wide array of advanced luxury features. The EQB features a fully digital cockpit, with voice activation, wireless connectivity, and a central touchscreen infotainment display.

Tesla Model X

The Tesla Model X is the largest vehicle in Tesla’s 2022 lineup. This three-row 7-seat SUV offers the highest range of any model on this list, at 333 miles.

Stylistically, the Model X may be best known for its unique falcon wing doors. But the interior of the Model X is also equipped with an array of high-tech features. Tesla usually takes a minimalist approach to its cabin aesthetics, but that only serves to make the large dash-mounted touchscreen display more prominent. The Model X also offers wireless device charging, rear seating gaming capabilities, and premium surround sound. Keeping the whole family entertained on the road is quite easy in the Tesla Model X.
