For anyone following the updates of the Porsche Mission E, shocking new information came about a few days ago. Porsche has announced that the first all-electric Porsche will now be called the Porsche Taycan, supposedly meaning “lively young horse”.
Shortly after the name change, and even more exciting, was the release of a teaser video of the all-electric sedan which has now given actual anticipation to the vehicle going into production and not just settling for a concept car.
According to Fred Lambert of electrek.co, “The vehicle is expected to have a range of over 250 miles. The company has previously been talking about a 0 to 60 mph acceleration in 3.5 seconds and earlier this year, a Porsche executive said that the Mission E will be able to go long distances at high-speed, like traveling on the German autobahn, or to complete a few laps on the race track. Porsche is talking about an 800-volt system that should allow a charge rate of up to 350 kW, which could charge the car up to 80% in only 15 minutes.”
If all goes to plan, it is the Taycan charging system that will be the biggest game charger in the electric vehicle market, especially competing with the popularity of Tesla.
